2017 | The M…

With the M... Alex has found the prefect artistic defining moment while playing with the boundaries of glass blowing in yet another dimension. He's frozen a significant moment in time in which he invites the beholder to ask himself a multitude of questions. Here Alex plays with the suggestion of perpetual motion. This 'moment of meaningful suspense' is like the key to free the imagination of the viewer. You can't help it but curious; you can't help it but fill in the gaps (...).   all pieces are unique and available in different sets: Single 20-25 cm. Double 30-40 cm. Triple 60-70 cm The M... 2015 / 2016 | Deformed Ceramics

The series Deformed Ceramics are results of Alex’s experiment in defining a skin for his vases and bowls. He developed a technique of an unregulated glazing process that is influenced by the glaze that has been processed previously to his designs. The residue which remains in the furnace determines the colour and intensity of the skin of Alex’s work. Each piece has its own specific layer and is therefore always unique. 2015 | Alpha Bowl

image Alpha Bowl More an object than a dish: in fact this is an existing form, a so-called mother mould. When Ceramics are cast the production mould wears down fairly fast. Thus the reason why new moulds need to be made over and over again form the mother mould, which usually has a very industrial form.   Hence there are existing and exquisite shapes that I want to re-use and present. Additionally I chose for the re-use of existing enamels all together in a unique mix. The result: amazing patterns! Not one single object cab get the same glaze or pattern, so each bowl is a one of a kind.

2015 | POP-out

Pop Out is a cartoonesque table light that is assembled out of multiple glass balls of which the bigger is gently sunk into a shiny wooden base. The randomly assembled bulbs remind us of an iconic Disney figure, but that outcome was fully unintentional. The reminiscence of this famous mouse though, makes it a touching lighting object by Alex that looks like it is kind of lost and hides itself or squeeks out to see where to head to.POP-outPOP-out | light of glass and wood

2015/2016 | The Dots

For one of Alex’s projects The Dots, he has found a way of connecting modular reproducible dots that are only then shaped while connecting. This enables Alex to constantly shift forms and shapes and find new meaning for each specific location. The Dots can be hung as pendant or styled as floor pieces. As The Dots are a modular lighting fixture, sizes are adjustable from 9 to 16 Dots and very much suitable for project lighting design on a larger scale. 2014 | The Big Bubble Coloured Edtition

The Big Bubble has already become the icon in Alex’s oeuvre, since he first launched it in 2013. These light objects are all unique as they are mouth blown in the Czech Republic, always under Alex’s watchful eye. Alex is pushing the glass blowers to twist their skills further every time again, up until the very moment in which the Bubbles almost collapse. This requires a tremendous control of craftsmanship. All Big Bubbles are unique and are initially available in three categories: small, medium and large. The dimensions range from appr. 40 to 110 cm. The Big Bubble was awarded for Best Product at the 2013 Design District in Amsterdam. A year later it won the Design Plus prize, the Red Dot Design Prize and the Good Design Award at the Chicago Athenaeum. The Big Bubble is exhibited in museums worldwide. 2014 | Aurum translucent

Aurum shows how Alex is able to convey movement within a frozen form. As glass is liquid and filled with air while producing, he has captured different shapes in the production process by withdrawing air when solidifying the glass. An extremely difficult process. These very moments of defying craftsmanship result in the elegant shapes of Aurum. Every Aurum is unique and is available in two different sizes: small and medium. Dimensions: 25-30 cm and 35-40 cm Aurum comes in a gold as well as in a translucent version. The Aurum gold is defined both as wall lamp as well as pendant. The translucent version is only available as pendant.   Piece of Light
